"Thanks," she says again and tips him a little nod. It sucks, Declan being gone, one more piece of home being ripped away from her. One more root she'd never meant to put down getting torn out of the ground.

She shakes off the gloom and smiles at William who'd looked up when he heard his name.

"Sam's like seven or eight months pregnant and Daniel's pretty busy looking after her, so yeah I spent a lot of time with him. He's a great kid."
