It had been some days since I last saw Kate, but the memory of our last encounter had weighed heavily on my mind since then. I had been giving her space, at first, and then I had been giving myself time, to think and to pray.
I knew I owed her answers, but it meant talking of things I had not spoken of yet on the island. Things that were best kept in the dark.
I misliked the separation, though, and so finally, I took myself to her home, on foot, hoping she would be willing to speak with me.
