On the screen, she and Magnus are discussing the situation. Magnus has just said she's counting on Kate's expertise and Kate frowns slightly at the screen. It had been such a mixed moment for her, realizing Magnus trusted her but at the same time that she'd never forgotten who Kate was, maybe knew even more about Kate than Kate did.

"These people, the one's on the screen?" She gestures to them, knowing Savannah knows Will from the Children's Office. "They're the good guys. I... it's kind of a long story, but the bad people I was working for were after Magnus's operation." Her daughter. "When that started to go bad, I saw which way the winds were blowing and jumped ship. I got lucky enough that Magnus and Will saw that I could be useful and they gave me reasons to stay and keep staying. If you meant the bad guys, the Cabal, that was just..." Kate shrugs. "I ran away when I was sixteen. I did whatever I had to to stay alive and I was good at it. When you're good at stuff, people hear. You start getting jobs, little ones first, then bigger. Next thing you know, you have a reputation for getting shit done and you're in demand. It pays, but you're living below the radar so you spend money fast staying safe."
