"Duh," Kate says and winks at William. William giggles, leans up and gives her a kiss on the cheek. Kate decides that's answer enough and scoots him off her lap.
"Here." She gives him the bag of books they picked up at the shelves. "You read something and I'll make some grilled cheese. That work?"
William nods kind of solemnly and starts sorting through the books. He always likes to look at them all first before he decides. It's cute, and so once he's settled, she runs her fingers through William's hair and passes him on the way deeper into the kitchen.
