It wasn't the largest of stories, but if William were honest1 this one probably would have found its way into the Times back in Ankh-Morpork, had one of his reporters gotten their hands on it. It was just a touch strange, because it was unusual. Which made it new, and if you put an s on the end of that, you got William de Worde tracking you down in the Winchester, notebook in hand.
He had a device which recorded voices, but he still kept the notebook around. He liked writing things down.
"Excuse me, you're Miss Freelander, do I have that right?"
