Kate rolls her shoulders up toward him, shrugging off the flutter in her gut. People talk about this, feeling like this, like it's a good thing. For her, the vulnerability of it just sucks. Yeah, she wants it and him, but she knows it's going to go bad. She's going to get hurt but she doesn't even want to protect herself and that's the worst part of all.

"Magnus is beautiful," Kate says as matter-of-factly as she can pull off. "Not saying I'm a hag or anything. Just, 'beautiful' isn't a word I hear a lot. 'Hot', usually."
